Founder & Principal, Oerlikon Research & Consulting
My background spans two fields that rarely overlap: technical engineering research and education research. That combination is the foundation of Oerlikon Research & Consulting.
My technical background spans thermal fluids, nanomaterials, and microelectronics fabrication. I've worked in academic research settings on problems in semiconductor physics and thermal transport, with countless hours spent in the cleanroom on the art and science of device fabrication.
My education background is just as deep. I'm a researcher-practitioner who has done peer-reviewed research and developed programs across the full engineering and STEM education pipeline from K-12 through undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral, and faculty levels. I've studied what determines whether graduates are prepared for careers in industry and government, how universities strategically align programming with non-academic career pathways, and what employers actually require from engineering graduates. I've also taught both engineering and education courses, so I understand what program design looks like from the instructor side as well as the research side.
That combination is the basis of Oerlikon Research & Consulting. When I work with a technical company on a skills gap analysis, I understand the technical context well enough to ask the right questions. When I work with a university on curriculum alignment, I bring the research methods and the employer-side perspective simultaneously. When I facilitate an expert panel that includes both engineers and educators, I speak both languages.
I founded Oerlikon Research & Consulting because after years of working in both fields, I kept seeing the same problems from both sides and knew I could be the bridge.
